Catholic Social Teaching is a philosophy based on the church’s beliefs and doctrines that we live out God’s call to love the most poor and vulnerable in our society through works of charity and social justice.

Human life and dignity are at the heart of the mission. Catholics are called not only to minister to the disadvantaged, but to engage in efforts to transform the social, economic, and political world that often effects them.

Catholic Social Teaching has Seven Major Themes:

  • Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • Call to Family, Community, and Participation
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
  • The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
  • Solidarity
  • Care for God’s Creation
