Alternatives to Traditional Worship

04/01/20

Due to COVID-19, all Catholics in Ohio have been dispensed from the obligation of attending Mass indefinitely.

Here at Christ the King we returned to public worship on May 30; however, if you prefer to remain at home, please take advantage of the resources below.

Spiritual Communion  As more Catholics around the world find themselves unable to receive the Eucharist due to the pandemic, Pope Francis provided this example of a spiritual communion prayer that can be said from home.

A spiritual communion is a uniting of oneself to the Sacrifice of the Mass through prayer, and can be made whether one is able to receive Communion or not.

Prayer for Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the altar. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
