“Continue to love each other likes brothers, and remember always to welcome strangers, for by doing this, some people have entertained angels without knowing it.” — Hebrews 13: 1-2 (NJB) Ministers of Hospitality (Greeters) serve an important function in making the worship experience genuine through their efforts to welcome the community as they gather together. By extending a personal greeting to all who come to share in the liturgical experience, a feeling of warmth within the community is shared. Ministers of Hospitality are part of the foundation on which all other ministries are built. Through the compassion of the Ministry of Hospitality, all who gather to worship need to feel they are welcome in an environment where the motivating force is people gathered in Christ. At Our Lord Christ the King Church, the members of the Ministry of Hospitality convey the feeling of community and worship as one through their extension of hospitality. “And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you.” And the king will answer them, “Truly I say to you, as you did it to the least of my brethren, you did it to me.” — Matthew 25: 37-40 Ministers of Hospitality need to arrive early, at least fifteen to twenty minutes before the time of the service. The first word of Hospitality should be a word of welcome. It is especially important to keep an eye out for visitors, new members of the parish, and strangers.Hospitality Ministers are expected to attend the annual Ministry Day program as well as any additional necessary meetings.Ministers of Hospitality will be responsible for distributing any printed materials needed during the celebration for which they are serving.Ministers of Hospitality are expected to be present for their appointed liturgy. It is each hospitality minister’s responsibility to provide a suitable substitute in the event of absence. “Beloved, it is a loyal thing you do when you give service to brothers, especially to strangers, who testify to your love before the church. You do well to send them on their journey in God’s service.” — 3 John 1:5-6 If you would like to assist as a Weekend Mass Greeter contact Coordinators Lori Anello at lanello@zoomtown.com
