Confirmations for Youth take place every other year for our students in grades 7 and 8. Important Info Confirmation requires 2 years of preparation. Students at Cardinal Pacelli will be prepared in their regular Religion classes, and other youth who plan to be Confirmed through Riverview Catholics Parishes should contact Mrs. Emily Daley (513-263-0762; daley_e@olctk.org). Confirmation Prep will also include: Parent Mtg -TBARetreat for CandidatesService/Spirituality HoursJournaling with Sponsor Service / Spirituality Requirement: Service hours are not required for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Sacraments are gifts freely given by God. Service hours will be required as part of the Religion curriculum. Specific guidelines and Service Cards (for recording hours) will be given out in the Fall. You/your child may keep record of service you child completes over the summer. We want each child to serve in their families, in their parish, and in the community. We also ask children to record spiritual activities in which they participate outside of regular Sunday Mass. i.e. participation in a pro-life event (Crossing the Bridge for Life), praying the Rosary with a group, watching and discussing a movie about a Saint’s life, attendance at a Catholic speaker, etc. Sponsors: Sponsor must be 16 years of age, a Catholic who has received Confirmation and Eucharist and is practicing the faith, and not be bound my any canonical penalty (i.e. may not be divorced and remarried without an annulment). Sponsor may not be the father or mother of the one to be confirmed. Your child will be choosing a Sponsor by the end of October. Sponsors must be practicing Catholics and will complete a form which requires the signature of their Pastor. Sponsors will complete at least one hour of service OR do at least one Spiritual Activity with your child in preparation for Confirmation. Your child will write a reflection about their experience.
