What is “Fair Trade”? Products are traded (bought and sold) in a way that is honest and fair, empowers both farmers and consumers. Fair trade supports small co-operatives that use sustainable methods that conserve natural resources. Farmers are paid a price that is stable and not subject to market fluctuations, thus empowering the farmers to invest in community projects and education.

In 2011 the Social Action Commission sponsored seven sales of Fair Trade food products. Products currently offered throughout the year after Mass include Coffee (regular, flavored, decaf), Tea, Hot Cocoa mix, Roasted Almonds, Olive Oil, and Chocolate Bars.  We purchase these products from SERRV and Equal Exchange. Profits from our sales help support the parish’s Health Insurance Project with Ghana.
