Habitat for Humanity
Each year Christ the King takes up a collection for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. This organization is dedicated to constructing new housing for low income families using the skills and talents of volunteers.
In June 2011 former pastor Father Bob Obermeyer celebrated his Golden Jubilee. In honor of this great accomplishment and Father Obermeyer’s subsequent retirement, the parish became the major sponsor of a Habitat for Humanity house in Mt. Auburn. Thanks to the generous contributions of parishioners, the home–known affectionately as the “House That Father O Built”–was constructed over the winter and spring of 2011. On Sunday, August 8, 2011 the house was officially dedicated and is now the residence of the Bomar Family. The project was a joint effort between Christ the King, Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity, and the Shalom Coalition.
