Ground breaks on The Shalom Coalition’s 26th House!

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati (Habitat) is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate substandard housing locally and globally by building and renovating decent, affordable homes to sell to low-income first-time homebuyers. Funding for the homes comes from contributions from individuals as well as faith-based organizations. There are also contributions from corporations that support Habitat’s mission.

Habitat is composed of several coalitions. These coalitions provide funding and volunteer labor for affordable housing for first-time homebuyers. Christ the King is a part of The Shalom Coalition, which was initially created as a “Peace” partnership between local community and congregation leaders. Shalom is comprised of 10 congregations leading, planning, and building each home. In December 2020, the coalition completed its 25th house.

We recently broke ground in Evanston for a new home to be built on Holloway Avenue. This will be The Shalom Coalition’s 26th home. Thank you to our parishioners who have supported this worthwhile endeavor to provide low-cost, affordable housing to local families in need.
